Hopefully, these photographs do justice to the beauty that I have experienced. What makes Landscape Photography so appealing (and challenging) is that it attempts to capture the features of the subject, lit by natural light. What a person sees at a precise moment in time becomes but a blurred memory. A photograph however takes that moment and alters it by holding it still.
It has been said that when you take a picture in colour, you capture the subject's environment. But if you take a picture in Black and White, you capture the subject's soul. Whether this is true or not, is subject to much debate, However, what is interesting in today's age of digital photography, is that Monochrome pictures are just as popular with many photographers as during the days of Ansel Adams.
To many, a photograph tells them nothing more than what the eye can see. To me, a photograph often proves how little our eyes permit us to see. In many cases, what seems like a mundane photo of no interest reveals its hidden beauty if one takes the time to really look at it. The photographs in this album attempt to capture what I saw in a different way.
